Local Schools Photography Competition 2023

On our 23rd December 2023 raceday, we were delighted to showcase the winning, second-place and highly commended entries of our Local Schools Photography Competition 2023.
The competition tasked students to take a photograph, alongside supporting text, using either Horses, Hedgerows or Horticulture as their inspiration. The winning photographs over the junior (1-6yrs) and senior age groups (7-11yrs) were also given the honour of appearing on the back of Saturday’s racecard.
We had 16 schools and 67 students enter the competition and our guest judge, royal photographer Millie Pilkington, was there to meet the finalists and present prizes on the podium. The winning schools received £1,000 to spend on photographic equipment and the winning students received £100 in John Lewis vouchers. The prizes were presented in the Parade Ring prior to racing and some of those shortlisted shadowed our racecourse photographer, Megan Ridgewell. As further recognition, we also named our opening race the “The Ascot Racecourse Supports Schools Photography Competition Novices’ Handicap Hurdle Race”
